Welcome Reverend Albergate!
The Rev. Dr. Scott Albergate
Fr. Scott Albergate comes to St. Paul ’s after serving for the past two and a half years on the staff of Bishop Charles Jenkins as the Canon for Mission and Congregational Development for the Diocese of Louisiana. He looks forward to returning to ministry as a parish priest and working with St. Paul ’s School.
Fr. Scott is a native of northern New Jersey where he graduated from Seton Hall University and New York Law School . After a twelve-year career as an attorney in private practice, he pursued a long-felt call to serve as a priest in the Episcopal Church. After seminary at Nashotah House and ordination to the priesthood, he served churches in the Dallas-Fort Worth area specializing in a ministry of outreach to spiritual seekers and those estranged from church. He went on to serve as the rector of parishes in the Dioceses of New York, Pennsylvania, and Southern Ohio .
After Fr. Scott completed a doctorate in Congregational Development from Seabury-Western Theological Seminary in 2007, Bishop Jenkins brought him to the Diocese of Louisiana to work with churches in New Orleans and throughout southeastern Louisiana in their continuing recovery and renewal from the effects of the hurricanes of 2005. As the Canon Missioner of the Diocese, he oversaw the development of new ministry initiatives in New Orleans including All Souls Church & Community Center in the Lower 9th Ward, the Episcopal Ministry to Young Adults in New Orleans, and the Latino Ministry at St. Anna’s and Grace churches. Fr. Scott serves as the Director of the Post-Ordination Formation Group, a leadership education program for newly-ordained priests, and is the Diocesan Facilitator for Fresh Start, a ministry supporting clergy transitioning into new ministry positions.
Fr. Scott is married to Kathy Korge, a native of Houston , who is the co-founder and president of The Red Thread Promise, a charitable organization dedicated to providing orphans with medical care. Scott and Kathy look forward to getting to know the many people who make up the community of St. Paul ’s Church and School.
